Discussing AI-Ready Security at WordCamp Sofia

At WordCamp Sofia, Robert Jacobi (Chief Experience Officer at Blackwall) and Goce Bonev (CTO at ThinkWeb) addressed the growing impact of automated and AI-driven threats on WordPress. Their talk explored how traditional security tools often fall short when dealing with the speed and scale of modern attacks, especially those targeting admin pages, APIs, theme and plugin vulnerabilities.

Together they emphasized the importance of addressing security at the network edge, before traffic reaches the application layer. Using Blackwall's GateKeep, an AI-ready website protection solution as an example, they showed how real-time traffic inspection and bot filtering can reduce server load, prevent downtime, and protect against common threats like brute-force attacks, scraping, and Layer 7 DDoS attempts. 

The discussion focused on practical takeaways for hosting providers, developers, and agencies managing WordPress at scale. As AI tools become more accessible to attackers, the need for forward-looking solutions that evolve with the threat landscape increases.
