Marshall Code Tools: Connecting Musicians and Technology

Marshall Code Tools is an experimental web platform built for guitarists using the Marshall CODE amplifier series. The goal was to create a community space where musicians could create, edit, and share amplifier patches directly from their browser—without needing traditional desktop software.

Using the Web MIDI API, we developed a proof-of-concept live editor that allows users to connect their Marshall CODE amp via USB and control it in real time. From tone adjustments to preset management, every change made in the browser updates the amplifier instantly.

The platform also includes user accounts, patch sharing, and browsing by artist or genre, turning what began as a technical experiment into a full-featured creative community. A custom CMS powers patch management, moderation, and content organization, while the backend handles secure storage and synchronization.

The project demonstrates how emerging web standards can bridge the gap between hardware and the browser, opening new creative possibilities for musicians.
